I’ve seen some disparaging Amazon.com remarks for short stories and similar. And that’s really the only thing working against such a fantastic “revival” idea such as this. If readers were in “episodic” mindsets, this would work brilliantly. Now you’ve given me something new to ponder.

Agreed! The greed of these 13-year-olds with no job spending hundreds of hours online to get better items just so they can blow me up and call me racial slurs needs to stop!

The episode concept isn’t new at all, but you’re right in that it deserves a reformation with the advent of e-readers! It’s a great way to get a new, bite sized introduction to a story. The danger would be that if 1 episode wasn’t amazing, it could be enough to turn the reader off of the rest: but I suppose that’s always a danger.

I take it you didn’t have a good experience with Reddit? I’ve never tried using this for any of my clients who have published a book. From your explanation, I’m now hesitant to try it. Sounds like it requires thick skin…
